Not because it’s cruel or unusual. It’s certainly not as cruel as the fear and pain likely suffered by the victim. And it’s only unusual in that many people who deserve a death sentence don’t actually get one.
I simply don’t trust the government to play fair when it comes to prosecution. It’s not about justice or finding the truth. It’s about putting another one in the “win” column.
